About

Hi, I’m Alex Maksimov.

In my professional life, I work in spare parts sales for heavy equipment, inventory management, and pretty much everything that lives somewhere between business, analytics, and actual machines.

Tech, on the other hand, is more of a hobby than a profession for me. I like figuring out how things work, building my own solutions, and, whenever possible, relying a little less on somebody else’s cloud. That’s how I gradually ended up with a small home infrastructure made up of Linux servers, Raspberry Pis, a NAS, and a growing collection of services I host myself.

I’m not a sysadmin or a software developer. Most of the stuff I write about here, I learn as I go: I experiment, break things, figure out why they broke, and put them back together again. Over the past few years, AI has joined the mix — both as a practical tool and as a fascinating technology in its own right.

This site is where I keep notes about all of that. Expect Linux, self-hosting, home servers and networking, automation, AI, analytics, and occasionally something completely unrelated.

Mostly, I write this stuff for myself — so six months from now I don’t have to figure out the same problem all over again.

But if one of these notes saves someone else a couple of hours of googling, even better.
